Your skin has just undergone a controlled regenerative treatment designed to stimulate repair, collagen activity and cellular renewal.

The way you care for your skin at home plays a vital role in your results and comfort.

Please follow the guidance below carefully.

What to Expect After Skin Needling

It is normal to experience:

  • Mild redness or warmth
  • Sensitivity, tingling or tightness
  • Dryness or light flaking over the following days

These responses are part of healthy skin renewal.

Skin Care Routine – First 24 Hours

Morning & Night

  • Unless you have been given specific guidelines from your skin therapist, this is a general aftercare guide.
  • Gently cleanse with a mild, non-active facial cleanser.
  • Apply a soothing, calming gel as often as needed to hydrate and protect the skin barrier.
  • Apply a gentle moisturiser with sun protection during the day.
  • This may be layered over a small amount of your soothing gel.
  • Reapply sunscreen every couple of hours.

Better yet, loose mineral makeup powder is the best form of sunscreen after skin needling. Unlike sunscreen that soaks into your skin and becomes less effective, loose mineral powder stays on your skin until you remove it.

Optional Hydration

A richer hydrating moisturiser may be used only if the skin is not acne-prone or congested.

Keep skincare simple, calming and supportive.

No acids. No exfoliating ingredients. No strong active ingredients.

First 48 Hours – Important Care Guidelines

To protect your skin while it is healing:

  • Keep skin calm and well hydrated.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 5 days.
  • Drink plenty of water.

Please avoid the following:

  • Heavy or strenuous exercise
  • Excessive alcohol intake
  • Saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga or hot showers
  • Swimming pools, spas and ocean water
  • Solariums or sun beds
  • Liquid make-up or heavy, oil-based products

Keep skincare simple, calming and supportive.

No acids. No exfoliating ingredients. No strong active ingredients.

Heat & Water Exposure – Why This Matters

After micro-needling, the skin is temporarily more open and sensitive.

Heat, sweating and swimming can:

  • Increase inflammation
  • Introduce bacteria
  • Delay healing
  • Compromise results

Allow the skin to fully settle before returning to these activities.

Active Skin Products – What to Avoid

Do not use active skincare products until advised.

Active products are ingredients designed to actively change skin behaviour, such as:

  • Exfoliating acids
  • Retinol or vitamin A derivatives
  • Brightening or pigment-correcting ingredients
  • Acne treatment ingredients
  • Strong vitamin formulations

Using actives too soon can irritate the skin and interfere with healing.

Dryness & Flaking – A Normal Stage

Around Day 5–7, you may notice:

  • Dryness
  • Light flaking
  • A “tight” feeling

This is a normal stage of cell renewal and skin regeneration.

Marnie’s Skin Warrior Exfoliation + Hydration Mask

This is the ideal time to use the aftercare exfoliation mask recommended to you. Otherwise, continue rich hydration where applicable and do not use any other exfoliating ingredients. Push through this dry stage.

  • Only use between Day 5–7.
  • Follow the instructions provided.
  • Do not over-exfoliate.
  • Do not use any other exfoliant if you are not using this mask.

This mask supports gentle shedding of dead skin while respecting the healing process.

Ongoing Care After Skin Needling

  • Continue gentle skincare until skin feels fully settled.
  • Protect skin from sun exposure daily.
  • Avoid introducing new products too quickly.

If you have any concerns or unusual reactions, please contact Marnie or your practitioner.
